When faced with loss most people go through a ‘grief cycle’ which consists of:

My emotions for the last 24 hours have deviated from the norm somewhat …

Right now I feel like climbing onto the roof of my house and shouting CUNT at anyone that walks past, these normal people don’t understand the sense of loss a Wota feels when shit like this happens.
After the news dropped of Koharu leaving I had to go into work, obviously I was in no mood to operate heavy machinery, and quite frankly its amazing I didn’t go on a killing frenzy with a forklift truck and a hammer, people I work with asked why I looked ’so serious’ … I meekly said ‘oh nothing’ but what I really wanted to say was ”FUCK YOU ASSHOLE, I DON’T HAVE TIME FOR YOUR NORMAL LIFE BULLSHIT … MY IDOL IS LEAVING ME … I HOPE YOUR HOUSE BURNS TO THE GROUND WITH EVERYONE IN IT ESPECIALLY THE CHILDREN AND PETS’.
Yes, I’m being over the top … but under the circumstance can you really blame me? I’ve been a Koharu fan from day 1 … day fucking 1!!!! bawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.
Now the biggest questions in my mind are :
Why the fuck is a 7th gen leaving before 5 and 6th gens?
Why get rid one of the most profitable girls?
Why wasn’t it Aika graduating? she only has 3 fans.
We will never know the real reasons and secret politics behind this, I’d like to think that Koharu wasn’t pushed into making this decision although this will forever remain a mystery.
I can safely say that my fandom for Morning Musume has fallen off the wagon this year … but this latest drama is like the wagon came back for me, ran over my face, and then the rider of the wagon got off and proceeded to kick me in the nuts and piss on me, my love for Morning Musume is now at its lowest point its ever been. EVER.

In other news I no longer have a favorite in Morning Musume, and I’m gonna go on a bender to end all benders.

I’d just support her decision, if my favorite (Kamei) wanted to become a fashion model and the agency let her go, I’d support her and be happy for her. But that’s just me.

You just summed up every Koharu fan’s feelings, gave me the laugh that I really needed, and made me feel a lot better that I am not the only person who is taking this like it’s the end of the world.
I don’t get how people can say they saw it coming. Bullshit. Koharu was one of the most popular members, she pulled in sales, and has always been at the front of the group. I could have accepted a graduation – Ai and Risa have been in the group forever, Reina needs to GTFO, Sayumi is even worse ear rape than Koharu, and Junjun and Linlin are eventually going to leave one day (let’s face it, as amazing as they are, they are still “exchange students”) but not Koharu’s. It’s just so random, and like you said this will forever remain a mystery. I don’t get why she would be releasing a PB, DVD, and be featured in the MM 2010 calendar – there are just too many holes in the story, and the whole “wanting to be a model” thing doesn’t sound like the genki, idol loving Koharu I know. This is just Tsunku being a dick again.
Koharu was my second favorite member, and I am taking this really hard, although I am finally accepting it because there is nothing else I or anyone else can do. Risa is my #1, but with the same way you feel for Koharu, it’ll be the same for me when Risa leaves – I’ll no longer have a favorite. And that’s the one suckish thing about Momusu – everyone is going to leave eventually, but no one wants to think about it until their favorite girl actually leaves.
The only thing that will make this right, which I have my fingers crossed for, is it Koharu goes to avex or any other place and gets a solo career. With there taste in music and her love for “cool images”, I can so see that happening. Either way I am going to support her in whatever she does, but I’d rather support her as a singer than a model (because honestly, how do you support a model?!).

I only like two Momusu members now – Reina and LINLIN (<3<3). Although I am beginning to like Eri and JunJun. My favourite was Koharu. I get the feeling if she continued her solo career she would have stayed – I think she wanted something more than to be a "normal Momusu" member.
I agree with the Aika thing. I want to punch her whenever I see those Nine Smile photosets. Grr.
And frankly, I was hoping Ai would leave this concert, so she could get that bloody solo career everyone seems to think she deserves and stop snatching the solo lines that, say, Gaki could have had.

Seeing it coming, from my perspective, goes like this: Kusumi’s tagline as I remember it was “Goto 2.0″, 7th Gen was supposed to be the new 3rd Gen.
Well, Goto graduated before Kemeko (barely) and Mari, and Kaorin, and Nacchi. Is it all that surprising that Kusumi was graduated ahead of the others?
While you have plenty of reason to BAWWWW over the fact she’s not being immediately shuffled into Gomato 2.0 or (apparently) a solo career, simply because she had a big fanbase isn’t really reason to expect that she wouldn’t be graduated. Given the Goto precedent, it might influenced them to graduate her earlier.
Time will tell.

I truly don’t think I’d be as upset if this were to happen at a less surprising time (i.e. after the older members). I wasn’t too upset when Yossy, who was my favorite member at the time, graduated because it wasn’t much of a surprise.
I’m not sure how I’m gonna feel about Koharu being elsewhere because Hello! Project has always been the place I go to for the idols I love. Example is how I’m pretty indifferent about Yossy now.
Hmmm… although it said she’d be graduating from H!P, does it mean that she’s leaving UFA too?
The way I see it Tsunku, yes the dude who sucks like tar, is gonna be incharge of these so called private lessons for Koharu, prepping her to be Gomaki 2.0. I mean, let’s face it, Koharu was one of Tsunku’s favorites (hence she got more activities/ lines), so I couldn’t see that Tsunku’s just gonna kick her off H!P and let her be a soloist.
If Koharu does become a model (which I partly blame Erika since that’s where Koha might’ve got her idea), idk… I’ll still support her by looking at her latest work. Not “buying” cause, WTF, it’s like buying PBs only without the other essences of an idol.
I doubt though Koha was even at GoMaki level, even when she first auditioned. GoMaki at the beginning, you could already see her talent, like Airi. But Koha… mmm…. It’s like she was just another one who won the audition.

Hey… you guys don’t think this graduation is a publicity stunt for H!P, do you? I mean, we’ve already established the fact that people who graduate from H!P can come back a.k.a. Konno. Konno decided to leave, then she came back to H!P again.
H!P has been on the down low recently (except for AX). I mean it’s just like every other year: CD, PBs Gekidan, etc. And since a lot left this 2009, H!P might’ve lost a few fans, causing the trigger “we have to do something HUGE and get these people back”.
So they graduate Koha, train her to be a super idol, then a year later, Koha comes back as a mega H!P soloist?
man…. when the depression stage kicks in.. it is no fun…. but i suppose as long as she is happy.. you are happy , right?

She was close to Thomas the Tank Engine. Thomas was close to Ringo Starr and thus The Beatles. Tsunku was jealous of that fact so he sacked her. It’s a simple story that’s happened so many times in the enterainment industry. Star meets tank engine. Older producer gets jealous. Star has career prematurely ended. That’s why Aika is still in Morning Musume. She’s the one person you know there’d never be a scandal about. Because nobody would be sick enough to shag her.
Personally I half expected a sixth gen member to go next. I was hoping it’d be Sayumi. I like her looks but her personality is becoming less and less what I like in an idol and the whole “I’m cute” act reminds me of Whatever Happened to Baby Jane. She’ll still be doing it and dressing in idol clothes in her 70’s. Knocking around her apartment wondering where her fame went and cooking dead rats to serve to the still successful Takahashi Ai. Plus she’s as bad a singer as Koharu. Of the rest Aika is invisible except for the times when she is really annoying. Linlin has no personality. Eri barely has a personality either. Morning Musume is all about graduations and new recruits. It’s just this feels bad because the personalities in the group have never seemed so weak. I’m a huge Ai-chan fan but would have to concede she doesn’t have the liveliest of personalities. In fact if you look at the Yorosen episodes it was only Koha and Junjun who really provided any laughs. Koha for her mental, almost anarchic approach to presenting a tv show (a bit like Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson transplanted into the body of a cute idol) and Junjun for a panda suit gag and some funny banter with Momoko. I just really hope that there are some new members soon and that they can both sing and have lively personalities. Some younger members might also help Morning Musume’s future musical direction. Kimagure Princess sounds like a return to a fun type of pop music but there’s been too much angst in other singles recently. Like with the tv shows shortcomings in recent years the singles have also suffered for a similar reason. A lack of fun. Who wants to see cute idols being deadly serious all the time? Ultimately I was shocked when I heard Koha was leaving. She’s my second favourite of the current group. But graduations have always been the norm and she’s had longer than a lot of members ever had. It’s just the group does seem lacking in personality right now. My thinking is…well…shit happens. I just hope Tsunku has a big shovel prepared.

I don’t really have a horse in this particular race. I hated Koharu at first, but She’d lost her Kirari voice in the most recent single, and she’s been less grating, so I don’t mind her, but I’m not particularly sorry she’s leaving. I -am- sorry that her fans seem to think this is the best time to slag the rest of Morning Musume like 4 year olds. Unless this is scandal driven, I don’t see why everyone is screaming and yelling. This is a -good- thing for Koharu.
On another note…Have you considered this may be an act of Karma for the Kanna and Erika posts you made on this blog?

After much thought I actually think it was, if it was the company’s choice why is she about to release a PB and embark on a new tour, it seems like it came out of nowhere, … if she had a career planed out I could accept this a little easier, it’s a shame Koharu didn’t elaborate her motives more in the statement she released.
She’ll most likely be moving to M-line. It doesn’t seem at the moment that she’ll be leaving UFA so she’ll still be around. Everyone knew there would be a graduation this year, it just wasn’t expected to be someone in her generation. To me though she seemed the most likely because she did have such a career out of Momusu and even though Kirarin has ended she has her regular position Ohastar etc.

Oh I don’t know. There’s never a bad time to slag off Mitsui. Personally I never used to. I’ve given her two years to bed in but recently I’ve just given up trying to give her the benefit of the doubt. She’s exceptionally annoying except for the times she’s invisible.
So it seems it was Tsunku’s decision and not Koha’s. Hell! Online have a translation from Tsunku’s blog where he says she was a bit puzzled at first. Yes her, me, thousands of other people and H!P’s bank manager.

Well that sucks ass. While Koha was never my fave, I still adored her. Seriously, watch Sexy Boy PV and then let it hit you what we are losing. She is a great member. I am not sure how they will fill her shoes. She simply needs to be there. She is part of the masterpiece. I love her parts in Onna, especially. I can only think this was her desire to leave and that Tsunku is letting her have what she asked for. I wish her the best. She will be missed but it sounds like she will not disappear to the fans. It sounds like there is more to come for her in the spotlight. I feel bad for my #1 mate, Shirow over there in the UK. Koha is his #1 fave and I respect it a great deal.

Aika, in person, one foot in front of me at the autograph session in LA, was nothing short of breathtaking kawaii sweetness. She spoke to me first, when there was supposed to be no talking (last session) and made a cute little joke about herself in the poster I brought from home to have signed. She is very uniquely beautiful in person and reminded me of silent movie starlets faces. I see her personality coming out more and more, which is unique and all her own, unlike the genki/ubercute thing Reina and Sayu do which has always been the same. For years now.
I will miss Koha. Long Live Aika!
I agree with Mozenator, having met Aika @ Ax and I also love her single on Platinum 9. She’s not my fave (the only #1 for me is Miya), but I think she gets alot of bad cred. After AX there were a lot of us (JPH!P sters) that stepped up and admitted we had done her wrong and that she’s a sweetheart.
She’s not the prettiest or has the best voice. She does a damn good job and works frikkin hard for ALL the Morning Musume fans, not just for the 3 of us.(or 4 now)
Since I’m new to Hip/J-pop, I haven”t had to go through a graduation before. Koha will be my first. I am sad for her to be leaving Morning Musume, but am also excited to see what she will become next.
Life is pain and change we deal and we move on to whatevers next.

Where you were teasing someone who seemed upset about Erika graduating. Oh, and I should clarify-I meant to be rather tongue-in-cheek about the karma comment.
